In E.R.G School of Art, political subjects and concerns are rarely seen in the work of students. On the other hand very few student come from non-European origins, and most are issued from financially comfortable backgrounds. Two streets down from the School, wa s, at the time a Cultural Center for Immigrants without papers where I proposed my voluntary services as a language teacher . I was to be contacted in the next few days for a special culinary Moroccan evening. The next morning it was evacuated by force by Military Belgian Police. As the situation wasn't mentioned at E.R.G, the day I was asked to create a "Street Art" piece, I decided to bring this issue into the School's lobby. |
