In E.R.G School of Art, political subjects and concerns are rarely seen in art works. On the other hand very few students come from non-European origins and most are issued from wealthy backgrounds. Two streets down from the School was (at the time) a Cultural Center for Immigrants without papers where I proposed my services as a volonteer language teacher, I was to be contacted the following day. The next morning it was evacuated by force by Military Belgian Police. As the situation wasn't mentioned at E.R.G, the day I was asked to create a "Street Art" piece, I decided to bring this issue into the School's lobby. |
