The First Meeting:

The first meeting coincided with the crèche, so I got to meet few of the ladies and some of their children. We had to choose the subject of the painting. Mary asked if it was a problem for me to paint a “Virgin” as she didn't know if I was catholic, I said I loved painting great women. Mary then wanted to know if I could paint roses, as she loved them and grew them in her garden. I said no problem. Then came the idea of the children, protected by “The Virgin”. I said great! (only I had no idea how many children were to be painted….ha ha…)
